What is External Loop Recorder (ELR)?
An External Loop Recorder is a small, medical device that measures your heart’s activity, such as rate and rhythm for extended period of time. This device is a compact light weight patch to detect heart activity monitoring from 24 hours -14 days. It is usually water and dust proof.
Indication of ELR
- Used to detect undiagnosed syncope and pre-syncope.
- To identify undiagnosed irregular heartbeats or palpitations.
- To assess risk for future heart-related events in certain conditions, HCM, Post Heart attack.
- To see how well a pacemaker is working.
- To determine how well treatment for complex arrhythmias is working.
Test Details
- The ELR system, primarily consist of a patch, like a small device put on the chest.
- The patch records arrhythmia episodes, which are stored in the device.
- The device is dust and water proof allowing all indoor and outdoor activity.
- You’re encouraged to participate in your normal activities during ELR Test.
